Difference between Restricted and Unrestricted Free Agents
Free Agency starts tomorrow so it's important to understand the distinction between UFAs and RFAs. RFAs are free agents who have played three or fewer years for their team. These free agents have expired contracts and can receive offers from any other team. However, their original team retains the right to match any offer. If they choose not to match the offer, then they receive draft-choice compensation based on the tender they place on that player. UFAs are free agents who have played for more than four years with the team and have expired contracts. There are no limitations on their options during free agency.

Jets sign David Garrard
The Jets have finally made a move that makes sense in signing former Jags QB David Garrard to their team. With the QB situation the way it is in East Rutherford, the Jets had nowhere to go but up and they certainly have with Garrard. Garrard hasn't played a snap in the NFL since 2010. He was supposed to play in 2011 but a couple days before the season began, he was let go. Hopefully he'll get a good shot at redeeming himself and an organization that has been the subject of a lot of scrutiny over the last year. It seems right now that Garrard is the obvious starter over Sanchez, Tebow, and McElroy but I guess we'll see.
Garrard's career stats: 16003 yards, 61.6 completion %, 89 TDs, 54 INTs, and has a QB rating of 85.8

Vikings agree to trade Percy Harvin to the Seahawks
Seahawks fans rejoice! NFC West and Vikings fans get ready to drink your sorrows away because the Seahawks just got that much more scary. Percy Harvin missed a good amount of last year's season due to injury received in Week 9 against Seattle coincidentally. He has also been the source of some drama on the Vikings side but was nonetheless a good player when healthy. The Vikings don't come away with this trade empty handed though as they get a first-round draft pick in this year's draft. This means they have the 23rd and 25th pick overall which gives them options to replace Harvin and/or address their needs. The good news is that they can pick up a good WR in FA as Greg Jennings and Mike Wallace will both be available. amongst others.

About Me
So...this is kind of my first time trying to blog about really anything. I figure I should share a couple things about me first. My name is Pranay. I like sports and gaming. I spend way too much time of my life watching TV and so I figure it's best if I do something productive with it. What I plan to do with this blog is talk about recent gaming news that I find interesting as well episode reviews of my favorite TV shows (I'll post a list later). I also plan on talking about football, hockey (thank god this season was saved), and any big sports news. I'll add a few more "About Me" posts later regarding my favorite teams/TV shows/games/etc. Thanks for reading! Hope you come back for more content.
